Teachers Health Group to open Health Centre in Charlestown Square

Wednesday 5 August 2026: The Newcastle and Hunter communities will soon benefit from a new, conveniently located eyecare and dental centre, with Teachers Health Group set to open its new Health Centre at Charlestown Square on 12 August.

Located in one of the region's premier retail destinations, the Health Centre will provide easy access to high-quality eyecare and dental services for both Teachers Health Group members and the broader community.

The opening marks an exciting new chapter for the Health Centre, which has been serving local patients from its Hamilton location for almost 20 years. As part of the move, services will relocate from Hamilton to Charlestown, ensuring the continued delivery of trusted healthcare in a modern, accessible setting.

The Charlestown Health Centre will welcome everyone, including Teachers Health Group members, members of other health funds and those without private health insurance, reinforcing the organisation's commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of the wider community.

According to Simone Tregeagle, CEO of Teachers Health Group, the new centre will feature advanced technology, designed to enhance patient care.

“The Health Centre will house a brand-new dental imaging scanner that captures highly detailed 3D images of teeth, bone and surrounding structures. This technology enables our clinicians to plan dental implants with greater precision, evaluate complex dental conditions and support oral surgery.

“As a not-for-profit health fund, our focus is on giving more back to our members and the communities we serve. Investing in accessible Health Centres and advanced clinical services is just one of the ways we do this.”

The Charlestown Health Centre joins six other Health Centre locations across New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.
